Joan Frau is a corner bar in the public market hall of Sana Catalina in Palma de Mallorca. It is run by two brothers and their brother-in-law. The place is open 5 days a week from 5am to 4pm and gets rather crowdy at lunch time. Joan Frau serves authentic mallorcan food, all made on site daily. Miró went there in his days as did many other in the year long history of the place. Joan Frau is a place of reference for a number of that make it stand out from thousands of other very similar places all over Spain. Try the coca de albaricoque!
Oliver Brenneisen wanted to capture the essence of the place in 16 frames.
The series was shot on Nikon FE with Kodak TRI-X 400, 50mm and 24mm manual lenses, negatives scanned on Nikon CoolScan 9000.
